An Independent Media Project
"Affordable Living in Southern Ecuador."
Our Story
49toZero is an independent media project created to share personal experience and general knowledge about life in Ecuador. Founder, Warren Young, a 57-year-old Canadian home inspector, closed his business and sold everything to start over somewhere in Latin America.
After a season of searching, a new home was found in Loja, Ecuador, where he now resides. The content of this website and its companion YouTube channel reflects the journey, observations, and lessons learned throughout the process of relocation and settling in.
Nothing shared here or on YouTube should be interpreted as legal, financial, immigration, construction, or real estate advice. Information is provided for educational purposes only and may be incomplete, outdated, or inapplicable to individual circumstances.
Our Philosophy
Reducing Uncertainty
"We share lived experience—not to eliminate risk, but to help you make informed decisions."
Personal Responsibility
"Moving to another country is complex and deeply personal. We are here to support you, but you are responsible for your own choices."
